A climbing paradise! The Battert rock right outside Baden-Baden offers a year-round climbing pleasure for beginners and advanced. The rock is one of the most beautiful in Germany with a total of 350 routes offering multiple levels of difficulty from IV to VI.
History
The name “Battert” refers not only to the rock above Baden-Baden but to the entire hill. The word “Battert” is a local speech and comes from the German name “Badenhart”, Forest (hart) of Baden’s margraves.
The first person who established the rock as an area to climb was Wilhelm Paulcke in 1885. Some of the massifs were named after the “Dolomites” and the “Kaisergebirge”.
